Wow, is it really that long since I last posted on my blog?
I actually toyed with starting again from scratch and another URl but in the spirit of the new austerity I'm recycling an old product and starting afresh!
An interesting year so far, Onrec had a record last quarter of 08 but a comparitively slow start to 09, however we're still up on where we were this time last year. Who said static is the new growth? Shall we just try and stick with growth instead?
Our industry is once again in turmoil, everyone claming that the end of the world is nigh or some such nonsense. Frankly I kind of welcome the whole thing, we're in an industry that for too long has rested on it's laurels, the Recruitment Industry has sheltered a huge number of very poor salespeople some of whom are being
exposed on things like MyLongLunch. It would be great if we got rid of people who opened the window and expected something to happen. A lot of job boards have been guilty of this for years and are now perhaps not doing as well as they would have hoped simply because those key relationships are not strong enough to guarantee loyalty in a cost and ROI driven market.
Speaking of ROI it seems that the world and his dog are banging on about it and quite rightly so, it will be interesting to see how the job boards and employers step up their game with regard to SEO I was talking to Jason Woodford of
AIDigital / Sitevisibility only last week about this and it seems they are gearing up for a really busy year of SEO work.
I've been making sure I'm out and about as much as possible at the moment so sorry if you've not caught me in the office I genuinely believe that in this market getting out and being seen (without wasting people's time) is a really important thing to do. I had a conversation along these lines with Steve Evans (formerly of Madgex) on Friday. We both agreed that
Jamie Leonard over at MyLongLunch is onto something with his innovative speed meeting format... If only I'd had that idea.....
Speaking of Steve Evans anyone looking for staff would be well served to have a chat with him, his new venture
MediaFigures seems to be doing very well so far.
Happy recruiting feel free to drop me a line if there's anything I can help with! :)
