Was it just me or did 2007 disappear worryingly quickly? New fads rose and disappeared, Facebook took over our lives and our offices (why the hell did people have to write on my wall when they were only ten feet away from me?), the world and his dog jumped on the bandwagon and made a Facebook app. Companies neglected the "oh so in vogue" Myspace pages they had set up in 06 and told us that social networking was the future.. I may have said it before but I'll say it again, just show me how you are going to make it make money in recruitment!
Having said that I have been told by many people that they have looked at the mistakes that have been made and the failed attempts to make social networks for recruitment work and that they have the solution, I recently commented on the efforts that are being made by Zubka in execdigital here and I have to say that I like what they are doing, it's always a challenge to see how new tech can be leveraged and these guys are making all the right noises. Nick Goldstein over at Jobtonic assures me we will see big strides forward from them this year and I'd like to see them push things forward certainly Nick and Kenny are very passionate people and love what they do, if commitment alone was going to pay their way then they'd be earning easily!
I've been personally hugely busy over the December and Jan period as Onrec has been going from strength to strength, the Onrec plans for 08 are great, our expansion in the US and our new appointment over there will undoubtedly make some waves but that's what it's all about.
Anyway I WILL start updating this weekly again from here on in, hopefully I've still got soe readers out there, big thanks to Louise at UK Recruiter UK Recruiter for the blog add!
